So my motivation naturally kind of shot down on top of that. Well, things happened and my school load got bigger and I had to take up a lot more personal projects and dedicating two hours a day to this kind of work suddenly became a lot harder – especially since it requires a lot of mental dedication to do these, and unfortunately I am not a fan of the Royal Knights arc of Frontier regardless of language. It’s a surprisingly tedious process, but taking it a bit at a time and pushing through seemed pretty doable.
Episodes are around 25 minutes each, sometimes shorter in the case of dub episodes, but writing these posts means watching every scene side-by-side twice and chronicling each change as it comes. The only dub-and-original comparison project that I’d known of up until then was something that was dead-set on portraying the dub as some 4Kids-level abomination for daring to change anything at all, so this was made out of a desire to provide info on the changes in a more objective manner, thus allowing people to make their own critical judgments without having to watch the series twice.īeyond that, I had a lot more free time to spend than I do now I was in high school at the time, and spending about 2 hours a day working on this was well within my range of ability. Despite the age of the series, decent translations of the Japanese versions of 02 through Frontier are actually a quite recent thing, having been finished by the lovely PositronCannon in around 2012 at the time info on the Japanese version of Digimon was still largely poorly documented and often based on very inaccurate translations.
So for a bit of background info, I started this project largely as a response to conditions in the fanbase and my own personal life five years ago.
To be honest, the answer is “most likely not”.
